Government ISA reforms will not encourage saving, industry says

‘Most of the general public do not care about ISA saving’

The majority of the advice industry does not believe the upcoming ISA reforms in April will encourage saving, Professional Adviser has found.

Some 71% of pundits who took part in the latest PA Asks poll responded ‘no' when asked if the government's ISA reforms would encourage saving, while 15% responded ‘yes' and 14% said they do not know. One respondent who said they believed the changes would encourage saving said flexibility meant people would not have to make a binary decision. Agreeing, another added: "People don't like complexity." Meanwhile, one pundit said that the government should "apply the same logic" to pensions. Conversely, one respondent said that the ISA reforms are a "complete waste of time as usual"....
