The FTSE index is on the rise this morning, adding 15.9 points, or 0.3%, to 5968, led by Cairn Energy and BP.
Corus Group has also made gains after Citigroup lifted its price estimate for the shares by 37 this morning to 85p. Corus has gained 2.3% to 77.25p so far. Cairn Energy, a UK-based oil explorer, has climbed 4.9% to £20.32 as the company says it may sell shares in its Indian business, as the estimated oil in its Rajasthan exploration block exceeds 3.5bn barrels. The company has also reported 2005 profit of $79.1m, compared with a loss of $15.7m in the previous year. BP, Europe's largest oil company, is also up 0.9% to 655.5p while Royal Dutch Shell, Europe's No.2, has gained 0.2% to £17...
