Citizens Advice extends financial capability

Citizens Advice has been awarded grants of £300,000 for financial capability programmes to help more people learn to budget, save and borrow wisely.

The grants are part of the charity’s 'financial skills for life' programme, sponsored by Prudential, which aims to put financial capability services in all its bureaux by 2010. The grants include £200,000 from the Friends Provident Foundation and £100,000 from the Abbey Charitable Trust. A recent evaluation of nine bureaux showed over 6,000 people benefited from the scheme and had improved their ability to budget, save and borrow.
