New build house prices advance 1.9% in June

Prices for new build homes have increased by 1.9% in June, according to figures released by SmartNewHomes.com yesterday revealing a second consecutive month of positive price growth after consistent decreases since November 2004.

SmartNewHomes says that while annual house price inflation for new build homes is still down 4% on the same time last year there has been a significant increase in recent months when house prices have been, on average, 7% lower than in 2004. The average price for a new build home in June was £261,512, says the report. It claims demand for new homes has also increased by almost 2% from May to June with buyers indicating they are willing to pay up to 3.4% more for their home than last year.
