Female savers and young people are taking an increasing interest in ISAs, research suggests.
The report by Halifax shows slightly more men than women signed up to a tax-free account in the first seven years of the scheme. However, the number of women registering accelerated by 52% over the period compared with a 35% increase for men. ISAs are also proving popular with young people, perhaps as a tax free means of saving for a mortgage deposit. Under-25s experienced the fastest rise in ISA uptake - up 88% in the first nine years.
