The Association of British Insurers (ABI) today increased its estimates for the cost to insurers of the riots which have gripped Britain to £200m.
Initially, the ABI estimated the riots - which broke out on Saturday night after the police shooting of Tottenham man Mark Duggan - would cost "tens of millions" of pounds in damage and clean-up claims. On Tuesday it revised this figure up to £100m but has since increased its estimate again after further riots broke out across the country.
