A second pensions bill is likely during the “life of this parliament”, according to pensions and financial inclusion minister Guy Opperman.
A "substantial" piece of legislation will be drawn up to provide a statutory footing for a superfund regulatory framework, he said, despite "competing forces" that will divide parliamentary attention. Speaking at the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) annual conference yesterday (14 October), Opperman said defined benefit (DB) consolidator legislation would not be a "two-clause bill".
