Self-invested personal pension (SIPP) complaints were down by 4% in the third quarter of the 2020/21 financial year, data released by the Financial Ombudsman (FOS) service has revealed.
For the period of October to December 2020, the FOS received 786 SIPP-related enquiries, of which 63% were upheld by the ombudsman. For the quarter before - July to September - the number of complaints received increased, however, it upheld 6% fewer of them. For that period, the FOS received 821 complaints relating to SIPP and, of those, 57% were upheld. Meanwhile, the number of occupational pension transfer (OPS) complaints compared to those upheld show a similar pattern. While the number of claims decreased, the number of those upheld went up.
