The ABI's reforms of Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) definitions on critical illness (CI) policies have not been well received by advisers.
Two thirds (67%) of intermediaries felt the changes were not worth the effort, with 15% even suggesting the whole concept should be scrapped. COVER's last poll asked what advisers thought of the ABI's decision not to rename TPD but to agree industry-wide definitions and launch an education campaign? Just 18% believed it was a good outcome and will help clarify TPD, with 15% adding that it was a start but did not go far enough as more needed to be done to address the problem.
