Cardiac arrhythmia is a change in regular heartbeat of the heart, usually due to abnormal electrical activity in the heart. The heart may seem to skip a beat, or beat irregularly, very quickly or slowly. The normal electrical conduction in the heart allows the impulse that is generated by the sinoatrial node (SAN) of the heart to be propagated to and stimulate the myocardium (heart muscle).
