For people moving aboard temporarily, the vital thing to consider is the dates spent overseas, according to Tony Shah of Christchurch Investment Management. "For example if you have a contract of employment and leave the UK on 5 April and come back 6 April the following year, you have completed a whole tax year outside the UK.
