Trade body SHIP is no more. It has rebooted itself as Equity Release Council and unveiled its mission to represent the needs of the entire equity release sector and drive it forward. Fiona Murphy asks new chairman Nigel Waterson about the changes and his role within the new organisation.
1. Your career to date has been impressive -from shadow pension minister to chair of the All Party group for older people, member of Society of Pension Consultants and trustee of International Longevity Centre. How did your previous roles prepare you for becoming chairman of the equity release trade body? I think all of these roles prepared me for my new one; I have long been focussed on the challenges around decent retirement incomes.
