Green shoots The number of British people who are optimistic about the economy has trebled since 2012, according to a poll commissioned by think tank British Future. The BBC reports that 29% of people are optimistic about the prospect for the economy in 2014, up from 9% in 2012. The proportion of those who are pessimistic about the outlook dropped from 74% to 40% over the same period.
