Investors in the US equity market have seen a small positive return thus far during 2014, with the market, as measured by the S&P 500 TR ($) index, showing a gain of 1.3% over the first quarter. Investors in continental Europe fared better but, in local market terms, the main indices in the UK, Asia, Japan and emerging markets all showed weaker performance than the US, experiencing losses over the quarter.
