The IMA Global Emerging Markets Bond sector is relatively new, having been only officially launched in January. Most of the funds themselves were also created fairly recently, ranging from the First State Emerging Markets Local Currency Bond fund, which is just over one month old, to the oldest, M&G's Emerging Markets Bond fund, which has been around for 14 years. This evolution is undoubtedly linked to the hunt for yield in a low interest rate world, coupled with improving economic fundamentals in several countries within emerging markets.
