Guernsey has bolstered its relationship with the US political establishment which now views the island more favourably than before according to Lyndon Trott, Guernsey's chief minister.
Offshore jurisdictions such as Guernsey have recently been branded "tax havens" by President Obama who has vowed to crack down on tax evasion and avoidance by US Multinational companies. Trott led a delegation to Washington to build on Guernsey's OECD "white listing" and reinforce the island's credentials as a transparent and co-operative low-tax jurisdiction though over a dozen meetings with senior council to Democrat and Republican senators.
