Half of graduates unable to buy property

Just over half of all graduates are unable to buy their first home, according to new research.

The third annual Scottish Widows Bank graduate first-time buyer report claims 53% of today’s graduates are still unable to get on the property ladder up 2% from the last year. It says of those that do own their own home 62% bought with a partner but 68% admit they would not have the ability to buy out that partner. And the research says almost one in ten graduates do not think they will ever be able to buy a house with the average graduate first time buyer deposit now standing at £16,219.
