House prices fall 1.2% - Halifax

House prices fell by 1.2% in June, according to the latest data from the Halifax.

But it says house prices increased by 4.5% in the first half of 2006 with a 2.6% rise during the second quarter of this year. The average house price now stands at £176,509 and the annual increase in house prices is expected to be around 9.4%. Halifax says prices increased in all regions during the second quarter with the exception of Wales. The biggest rises were in Scotland (5.7%), the South West (3.8%) and East Anglia (3.5%) while the smallest increases were in the North West (0.2%) and North (0.9%).
