Housing prices are set to shoot up because the number of homes being bought by singletons is on the increase, according to research from mform.co.uk.
The study, which involved interviewing almost 4,300 people, suggests of the homes bought over the past three years just 26% were by singletons. However, statistics for the next six months suggests that figure could shoot up to almost 40%. According to mform, this trend is set to continue as more people decide to live by themselves. Indeed, it suggests 10% of 25 – 44 year olds now live alone compared with just 2% in 1973 and, by 2021, 35% of all households in the UK are expected to be occupied by one person.
