FTSE ends flat on Wall Street recovery

The FTSE 100 has ended the day unchanged at 6,505.1 points, as early losses were offset by a good start on Wall Street.

Detica Group posted the biggest gains with a rise of 4.6% to 403.75p, closely followed by miner Lonmin which added 1.88% to £37.87, while Royal Bank of Scotland climbed 1.47% to 657p. British Land also gained 1.42% to £13.53, while Kingfisher advanced 1.38% to 238.25p, although the gains were offset by Vedanta Resources which ended the session down 2.53% to £14.65. Rexam was the biggest loser with a fall of 2.76% to 511.5p, closely followed by National Grid which dropped 2.17% to 720p, while Rolls-Royce Group slipped 2.03% to 506p, and Schroders declined 1.95% to £13.09.
