The Conservative Party attacked the timing and confusion over Labour's pensions plans.

Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, David Willetts says Labour has provided a scattered time frame for its pension proposals. He says: “Just days ago, cabinet minister Peter Hain, acknowledged that early action on the nation's pensions crisis would follow a Labour election win when he talked of big policy changes and major legislation ‘sooner rather than later’ which would ‘surprise people’.” Willetts says Hains spoke of the involvement of ‘all sorts of considerations' including people saving more themselves.
