HIPs boosted by Conservative defeat

The defeat of a Conservative Party parliamentary motion to annul legislation introducing Home Information Packs has been welcomed by the housing industry.

Mike Ockenden, director general of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP), says the defeat of the Conservatives motion demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the house buying and selling process. He says: “Industry is ready to deliver HIPs and the benefits the packs will offer to both consumers and the environment. There will be enough energy assessors – our latest survey has identified over 3,500 home inspectors and Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) will be ready to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPS) as of June this year.” And Stephen Callag...
