Government pre-election housing proposals for 100,000 more FTBs

As an announcement concerning the date of the next General Election looms ever close the Government has announced further details regarding its Homes for All initiative.

Proposals include a shared equity scheme which it believes will enable 100,000 first time buyers get onto the property ladder by 2010. They also include the Design for Life competition, which has challenged property developers to build affordable housing with a construction cost of around £60,000. Public sector owned land is being provided for the development of up to 1000 homes and Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, has also released details of the areas the projects are to take place in. The first 470 homes are to be built in Milton Keynes, Alyesbury, Upton, Northampton and Leeds. ...
