Managers riskier - SVM boss

THE manager of the SVM Global fund has said the current climate has made it hard for investors to outperform.

Colin McLean, whose £192m fund aims to exploit global opportunities to provide long-term growth, said as volatility was at historically low levels and major indices were all moving upwards in tandem, it was hard for managers to beat their sector average so they were chasing more risky investments. “Low returns and low volatility, combined with a couple of high profile hedge fund failures, indicate that the risk profiles of a number of these funds have increased as they attempt to chase performance. “This is a particularly alarming feature which could indicate there are more serious pr...
