ABN AMRO is launching a new equity index that tracks the performance of listed companies involved in addressing climate change and environmental issues.
The Dutch financial giant is bidding to steal a march on competitors in what it feels will be a growing marketplace of socially responsible investments (SRI). Its Climate Change & Environment Index is the world’s first dynamic, rules-based index that tracks the performance of stocks directly related to businesses involved in tackling the adverse effects of climate change and mitigating environmental degradation, the group said.
