THE European Commission's Renewable Energy Directive, combined with consumer and corporate pressure on environmental and ethical issues, creates a strong argument for green investing, according to Jupiter's Charlie Thomas.
Thomas, manager of the Jupiter Ecology fund, pointed to the Commission's stretching targets for the EU to generate 20pc of energy from renewable sources, while the UK was given a lower target of 15pc. He added that mandatory greenhouse gas reduction targets set out in the directive for each county were also relevant to the issue of energy efficiency.
