JOHN Gummer MP, chairman of the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA) has highlighted the growth in the ethical investment sector and the role of AIFA and the UK Social Investment Forum (UKSIF) in raising awareness of ethical and socially responsible investment advice among IFAs and consumers.
At UKSIF’s AGM, he said: “We are delighted to support UKSIF in their initiatives and plan to work closely together in the future. "Working with AIFA provides UKSIF an opportunity to develop a closer relationship with the consumer. This is vital to alter individual decision making.” The ethical investment sector is rapidly expanding. According to EIRIS, the ethical retail fund market has grown from £372m in 1994 to around £7.2bn by the end of last year.
