No trial for Twitter financial 'panic' man

A man accused of creating a financial panic in Guatemala City using micro-blog Twitter will not face trial, an appeals court has ruled.

Jean Anleu was charged in May after sending a ‘tweet' urging investors to pull their money from Guatemala's rural development bank, but prosecutors say there is not enough evidence to convict him. Using the alias ‘jeanfer', Anleu had urged depositors to pull their money from the bank and had said that "first concrete action should be, take cash out of Banrural and bankrupt the bank of the corrupt".
