Half of advisers have poor knowledge of annuities

One in two advisers admits to not having a thorough knowledge of the annuities market, according to research.

The Annuity Clearing House (ACH) says the research reveals a serious knowledge gap in this increasingly complex sector, which could lead to poor recommendations on retirement income. A survey of 275 IFAs found 50% believe they do not have a thorough knowledge of the retirement income sector. Just one in three say they have a good grasp on the rapidly growing impaired annuities market, while just one in eight feel they know enough about invested annuities.
