Aviva has extended the time about 21,500 policyholders have to accept a special payment.
Policyholders now have an extra month to decide whether they want to take the money from two with-profits funds, CGNU Life and CULAC. Voting closes on 21 September, whereas the original deadline was 21 August. The company says almost 79% of the one million savers involved have voted with 96% accepting the money in its "reattribution process" for the funds, according to the BBC. Most policyholders are set to receive between £200-£1,000 in November this year if they give up any future claim to a share of remaining money in the funds.
