Mortgage firms received more than twice the number of complaints in the first half of last year than they did in the first six months of 2006, FSA figures show.
Data published for the first time by the regulator in a bid to improve transparency for consumers shows only 6,837 complaints were made against mortgage firms in the first half of 2006, while 15,776 complaints were received in the first half of last year. But the figures show only 38% of all mortgage complaints were upheld by the FSA in the second half of 2008, down from 48% in the first half of 2006.
