Brits pessimistic about future standard of living

Britons are more pessimistic about their standard of living improving than they were five years ago, research suggests.

According to Scottish Provident's latest High Wire Britain survey, which investigates consumers' lifestyles and attitudes, one in five (21%) people believe their standard of living is likely to decline over the next 10 years. This compares with just 14% of people when asked the same question five years ago. However the mood varies among the regions, with those situated in London and the North East proving the most optimistic about the future - with over half in each region expecting their standard of living to improve.
