Pruprotect grew strongly last year but its stable mate Pruhealth suffered a tougher 12 months.
Both insurers are a recent joint venture into the UK protection and health insurance markets by British based Prudential, and South African provider Discovery. As expected from Discovery's previously released results, Pruprotect saw its new business (APE) for 2009 increase while five year old Pruhealth's fell, although the final figures are different due to international accounting variations. The protection company's operation - which was formed in late 2007 - grew 183% from £6m to £17m, while the health side dropped 31% to £11m from £16m.
