The FSA must better assess the practical impact its ideas will have on the adviser community before introducing new regulations, urges its newest board member Amanda Davidson.
Baigrie Davies’ director Davidson – the first IFA to join the FSA board – says she wants to make the regulator “better understand” how the adviser sector operates. “IFAs do a fairly good job for clients and that is the message I’ll be trying to get across to the FSA,” she says. “Consumer protection is obviously very important. IFAs know this because they work closely with consumers every day, but the FSA must think through what its ideas mean in practice and only make changes which are balanced and proportionate.” Davidson, who steps down as deputy chair of the Association of IFAs ...
