Ken Clarke, Vince Cable and Alistair Darling have come out as more popular choices to fill the role of Chancellor than George Osborne, among City economists.
The poll follows a recent TV debate between current Chancellor Darling, the Lib Dems' Cable and the Conservatives' Osborne. City economist favour seeing Ken Clarke - a former Chancellor for John Major and currently Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills - take the top job at the Treasury if the Conservatives win this year's General Election.
