Equity funds make up ground in ISA season rush - Skandia

The gap between fixed interest and equity fund sales narrowed in the final rush of the ISA season, says Skandia, in a sign investor confidence is growing.

Although UK fixed interest funds remained the single-best selling asset class on Skandia Investment Solutions (SIS), UK equities are catching up, increasing from 18% to 23% in January as a proportion of total sales. UK fixed interest funds fell from 26% to 23% over the same period. Equities as a whole accounted for almost half of sales (49%) in the first three months of 2010. Managed funds were the next most popular asset class, accounting for 16% of sales over the quarter, followed by Global Specialist funds (10%) and Property (6%).
