The average daily number of ETF and ETC trades on the London Stock Exchange has risen by 45% year-on-year to reach 16,420.
This compares with the average daily number of 11,309 trades in June 2009. The exchange says the average daily value traded in ETFs and ETCs in June was up 35%, to £436m, compared with £323m in June last year. Since the start of 2010 up until June, average daily trades in ETFs and ETCs have reached 17,481, compared with 11,264 in the same time period in 2009. In comparison, there were 593,569 average daily trades in UK equities in June this year, and 444,031 in derivatives. At the other end of the scale, there were 1,681 trades in MTS cash.
