PruProtect has revealed its new business grew by 98% to £10.9m (APE) in the first half of 2010.
This was up from £5.5m during the same period last year. It now holds 36,469 policies in force and a further 2,928 intermediaries registered to write business with it over the six months. The provider also saw applications soar to 25,269 from 10,910 in the same period last year, while its new hybrid critical illness and private medical insurance Health Cover product received 4,370 quotes in its first two months. Launched in September 2007, PruProtect is a joint venture between Prudential UK and South Africa based Discovery.
