Mutual staffer jailed for stealing thousands

A Nottingham Building Society employee has been jailed for stealing tens of thousands of pounds from the mutual and her elderly stepfather.

Marilyn Scott, of Long Eaton in Derbyshire, worked as a customer service adviser for the Nottingham Building Society. According to the BBC, Scott was sentenced to two and a half years in jail at Derby Crown Court after being found guilty at her trial in August of stealing an estimated £96,000 between 2003 and 2008 to pay off credit card debts from the late 1980s. Scott stole £65,000 from her late stepfather who suffered from dementia and took thousands of pounds more from nine vulnerable Nottingham Building Society customers in Long Eaton. She also stole £6,380 from the branch's safe....
