Bupa is offering a partial payment to those waiting for an NHS operation and is adding more conditions to its critical illness (CI) cover.
The provider will pay 25% of a claimant's benefit or £25,000 (whichever is lower) directly into their bank account if they are awaiting aorta graft surgery, coronary artery by-pass grafts, heart valve replacement or repair or open heart surgery. It claims to be the only insurer on the market to offer this option. The additional conditions include severe Crohn's disease and benign spinal cord tumour.
