Third of brokers plan to exit market in next five years

Research by Tenet Lime has revealed 33% of brokers are looking to exit the mortgage industry in the next five years, with two-thirds of those planning to leave before the end of 2012.

Tenet Lime's first broker survey showed that, of those looking to leave, 69% were directly authorised (DA) intermediaries. Appointed representatives (AR) and DAs both cited the economy, the growth of direct deals and dual pricing, and regulation as the biggest threats to their businesses. DAs were more concerned about the FSA than ARs, with a quarter of DAs seeing it as a major threat to their future compared to 10% of ARs.
