NHS surgery delays could mean PMI is 'only option' - AMII

The Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries (AMII) believes cuts in NHS elective surgery make private medical insurance (PMI) the only option for some people.

Yesterday, a report issued through the British Orthopaedic Association and BBC found elective surgeries were being delayed and thresholds for surgery had been increased. In response, AMII explained that this could mean more people seeking health cover to avoid this potential disruption. Debbie Kleiner-Gaines, treasurer and executive committee member of AMMI, said people could see the private sector as their only option.
