A North Carolina man attempted to rob a bank for $1 so he could get access to health insurance in prison.
James Verone had no history of trouble with the law but, last week, the 59 year old former truck driver walked into a bank and attempted tthe robbery. Unarmed, he handed over a polite note to the bank teller, which said: "This is a bank robbery, please give me $1," before sitting down calmly and waiting for the police to arrive. Verone, who is unemployed, has a growth on his chest, two ruptured disks and a problem with his left foot.
