PMI and Protection complaints remain low level - FOS

Protection and private medical insurance complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) remained steady over the second quarter of the year.

According to statistics released by the ombudsman, FOS upheld 36% of the 162 critical illness cases brought to its attention over the second quarter, compared to 31% for 2010/2011. It upheld 41% of its 179 income protection cases, compared to 42% last year. The 95 complaints to FOS between April and June concerning private medical insurance (PMI) were upheld in favour of the consumer in 49% of all cases, according to the data.
