A former Barclays Bank employee has been jailed for three years after he stole £820,000 from a pensioner's bank account.
Mohammed Ahmed, 26, used his position at the bank to transfer the savings of 75- year-old Brian Mahoney into his own accounts, the Islington Gazette reports. Ahmed then stole another £25,000 from the bank by setting up five bank accounts in false names and using their £5,000 overdrafts. The former Barclays employee, who resigned in April 2009 and was arrested in July this year, said he had been taking revenge on the bank for making him work in a "toxic" environment.
