Aviva targets three day claims payment

Aviva is aiming to settle death claims from group risk customers within three days.

The provider is introducing an electronic claims process for group risk schemes that will allow forms to be completed and submitted online. It said this should mean that in ‘most cases' it expected life insurance claims to be settled within three days. The online Government Deaths Register will be checked as part of the process, often removing the need to request the original death certificates from the bereaved family, while the online claim form will capture enough information to determine within 24 hours what further documentation may be needed.
