Legal & General's with-profits fund returned 1.7% in 2011 in a year which saw total bonuses of £459m added to with-profits policies.
The insurer also said it will maintain annual bonus rates at last year's levels for conventional endowment mortgage customers. It added the majority of bond and unitised pensions customers will receive policy additions higher than the 1.7% return of the with-profits fund. The company said total bonuses of £459m were added to with profits policies during 2011, up 11.6% on the previous year's figure of £411m.
