SHIP hires former shadow pensions minister as chairman

Safe Home Income Plans (SHIP) has appointed Nigel Waterson as its chairman following the retirement of Laurie Edmans, who stepped down after six years in the position.

Waterson (pictured) - who served seven years as shadow pensions minister during an 18 year stint as a Conservative MP - will initially focus on helping the organisation move from a provider focus to one which represents the wider equity release industry. This follows the trade body's extensive engagement process last year.
