David Johnson, the man credited with creating the specialist mortgage lending market in the UK and an industry veteran of 40 years, has died aged 67.
Johnson, a passionate racehorse owner, was managing director of secured lending at Shawbrook Bank when he passed on 6 July. He is considered a pioneer in the secured and commercial lending industries, and had a long career which included the creation of i-Group, Money Partners, Commercial First and Link Loans, as well as Shawbrook Bank. He also had a successful career in horseracing, the pinnacle of which was winning the Grand National with Comply Or Die in 2008.
