Eastleigh brokers jailed for six and a half yers for mortgage fraud

Two mortgage brokers found guilty of participating in a £3m scam have been jailed for a total of six-and-a-half years, sending a "clear message to financial services professionals" about the ramifications of engaging in fraudulent activity.

Eastleigh mortgage broker Alex Chiswell, 33, was found guilty of helping an unemployed man and his wife fraudulently obtain three mortgages. He was sentenced to four years in jail. A second broker, Colin Zaczyk, 41, was jailed for two and a half years for dishonestly gaining a mortgage for a property in Eastleigh. An accomplice of Chiswell, former Bournemouth estate agent John Hudson, also received a 12 month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
